Winter 2018 update
Last year, we have decided to start winding down our cattle business this year. It has been a great experience that has been very fulfilling. The breed is growing fast and will continue to flourish over the forseeable future. Going forward, we will focus on Hay Production and pasture rental.
Our other business, www.richerrelationships.com is demanding more of our time and energy so something had to give. It's hard to travel extensively and give the cows the proper care they need. We will miss all the great customer relationships we have built over the years and are doing our best to move them to other providers in the area that we trust. Thank you for all the support you have given over the years.
.
Our Beef Business has been fantasic over the years. We are very thankful to all of you that have given us your business year after year. 2017 will be the last year we will be selling beef. Our production is almost sold out so if you would like to order a quarter, or half beef, please let me know very soon. You can send me an email through the contact us button on this website. Again, thank you to everyone that has made our business a success over the past several years.
In July 2014 we installed a new water system at our farm. We elected to try a re-purposed mining industry tire from GIANT RUBBER WATER TANKS. The idea is to take a spent tire and instead of sending it to the landfill, find another useful purpose for it. I'll add more information about the installation process later but here is a couple of pictures of the finished installation. We installed a 7 foot tire-tank that will service 3 seperate pastures during the winter.
*******UPDATE*********
After using the system for a couple of years now, I have to say I'm pleased overall. While the advertisement indicated that the system would be very freeze resistant, that is really not the case. I ultimately had to put an insulated lid over the top with drinking holes cut out and a floating tank heater installed. After that, the system was trouble-free for the rest of the winter. Another thing is that it tends to grow algae very easily. I left the lid on throughtout this summer and it kept the water much cooler and reduced the algae growth. Overall, I think it's a very good system.
